Technical SEO Consultant: Crawl, Index and Performance Fixes

If Google cannot crawl, render and index your important pages efficiently, no amount of content will rank them. I diagnose technical problems from your crawl data and Search Console reports, then fix them in the code, CMS or server configuration.

Symptoms

Signs you need technical SEO help

Technical problems rarely announce themselves. These are the patterns I see most often in Search Console before a project starts.

“Crawled – currently not indexed” is growing

Google is visiting pages but choosing not to index them, often because of thin templates, duplication or weak internal linking.

Rankings dropped after a site change

A theme update, plugin, redesign or new JavaScript framework changed what Google can see on the page.

Thousands of URLs you never created

Filters, sort orders, tracking parameters and tag pages are eating crawl attention and splitting signals.

Poor Core Web Vitals on key templates

Slow LCP, layout shift or unresponsive pages on mobile, usually from images, fonts and third-party scripts.

Wrong pages ranking

Google is choosing a different canonical, a parameter URL or an old page instead of the one you want.

Structured data errors

Product, article or breadcrumb markup is invalid or missing, so rich results and entity understanding suffer.

Scope

What a technical SEO engagement covers

Crawlability and crawl efficiency

Robots.txt rules, internal link depth, orphan pages, redirect chains, parameter handling and log-level patterns where server access allows.

Indexing and canonicalisation

Canonical tags, noindex rules, duplicate templates, pagination and XML sitemaps checked against what Search Console reports as indexed.

Rendering and JavaScript

Comparing raw HTML with the rendered DOM to confirm that content, links and metadata are visible without relying on client-side scripts.

Performance and markup

Core Web Vitals and structured data, fixed at template level

Speed problems are almost always template problems. Fixing one product template or one blog layout improves every page built on it, so I work at that level: preloading the hero image, sizing images to stop layout shift, deferring non-critical scripts and removing unused apps or plugins.

Structured data is handled the same way. Schema is generated from the template so it stays accurate as content changes, and validated with Google's Rich Results Test before release.

How a technical SEO project runs

  1. 01

    Crawl and data pull

Full Screaming Frog crawl, Search Console indexing and performance exports, and Core Web Vitals field data.

  2. 02

    Diagnosis

Each issue traced to its root cause and template, with the number of affected URLs and the commercial pages involved.

  3. 03

    Fix and test

Changes shipped on staging where possible, tested, then released with a dated change log.

  4. 04

    Validate

Validation started in Search Console and recrawls monitored until Google confirms the fix.

FAQs

Technical SEO FAQs

Technical SEO audit report listing crawl, indexing and performance issues by priority
What is the difference between a technical SEO audit and a general SEO audit?

A general audit looks across technical health, content, links and competitors. A technical audit goes deeper into how search engines crawl, render and index the site: server responses, canonicals, JavaScript, sitemaps, internal link depth and performance. Most sites need the technical layer fixed before content work pays off.

Do you need access to my website?

For the audit, Search Console access and the ability to crawl the site is enough. To implement fixes I need CMS or theme access, and for some issues hosting, CDN or server access. I work on staging first wherever one is available.

How quickly will technical fixes improve rankings?

That depends on how often Google recrawls the affected pages. Fixes to important, frequently crawled templates are often visible in Search Console within a few weeks. Large-scale indexing problems can take a few months to settle.

Can you fix JavaScript SEO problems on React or Next.js sites?

I can diagnose them and specify the fix: server-side rendering, static generation or changes to how links and metadata are output. On custom JavaScript frameworks I usually work with your developers to implement the changes.

Do you improve Core Web Vitals as part of technical SEO?

Yes. Performance is part of every technical engagement, focusing on the templates that carry your commercial pages. For sites that mainly need speed work, I also offer it as a standalone service.
